Seven Piece Fischer & Mieg Imari Pattern Dessert Set

About the Item

This seven piece dessert set by Fischer and Mieg of Bohemia consists of a large bowl and six plates. They are decorated with a hand painted and gilded Imari pattern using the traditional colours of underglaze blue, iron red and gold. The bowl measures 298 mm (11.75 inches) in diameter and stands 40 mm (1.75 inches) high, while the diameter of the plates is 240 mm (9.5 inches) and they stand 20 mm (.75 inches) high. The set is in very good condition, but one of the plates has a shallow flake missing from the back near the rim. The flake is approximately 5 mm (just under .25 of an inch) square and cannot be seen from the front. Most pieces carry the impressed F & M mark and one bears the green printed Pirkenhammer mark which dates the set to around 1890.
