A truly exceptional piece of antique French barbotine, this majolica platter is a feast for the eyes. The unique, lobed form is masterfully crafted, featuring a central medallion with a beautifully textured, turquoise glaze. This vibrant ground is adorned with a sculptural branch of ripening blackberries and delicate pink blossoms. The wide, intricate border is divided into panels by ochre-hued faux bamboo elements, each panel decorated with leaves and berries. This stunning combination of naturalistic motifs and rich, glossy glazes is a hallmark of the French Art Nouveau period.
Measuring 14" wide, 10" deep, and 2" high, this platter is perfect as a magnificent centerpiece, a server for fruit or pastries, or as a stunning piece of decorative art for a wall or cabinet.
