19th c. Minton Aesthetic Movement "Aquarium" Fish Plate

About the Item

This Minton "Aquarium" plate was part of a fish service which is a rare and sought after pattern. The celadon green ground contrasts beautifully with the vibrant polychrome decoration. The subject is both whimsical, humorous and accurate. Typical of the Aesthetic Movement style, the naturalistic underwater scene captures the fluidity of movement of fish and aquatic life. This is a fabulous decorative element for display. Excellent condition commensurate with age, no structural defects! Made in England, 1870's
