This hand-painted porcelain plate by Royal Copenhagen is adorned by the firm's highly regarded Flora Danica pattern. While the majority of the motifs in the Flora Danica pattern capture the native fungi and flowers of Denmark, this plate is part of a rare series of crustacean motifs. At its center is a life-like representation of the Nephrops norvegicus, or Norway lobster, while the creature’s Latin name is inscribed on the reverse. Accented with a delicately gilded edge, this plate is a testament to the skill and talent of Royal Copenhagen artists.
