While the majority of the motifs in the Flora Danica pattern capture the native fungi and flowers of Denmark, this plate is part of a rare series of crustacean motifs. At its center is a life-like representation of the Nephrops norvegicus, or Norway lobster, while the creature’s Latin name is inscribed on the reverse.
