Antique English Porcelain Pseudo-Tobacco Leaf Pattern Tea Cup & Saucer

About the Item

A fine antique porcelain cup and saucer. In the Pseudo-Tobacco Leaf pattern, mimicking the Chinese Export pattern of the late 18th Century. Attributed to Copeland Spode. Both cup and saucer have a gilt scalloped rim and are decorated in polychrome underglaze blues and cold painted reds, purples, and greens. Each is richly gilt. Simply a wonderful early English tea cup and saucer! Date: Early 19th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Condition Details: There is some rubbing to the paint in the center of the saucer. There is minor rubbing to the gilding on rims of both the cup and saucer, and to the handle of the cup. There is some very light crazing around the cup's footrim. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Attributed to Copeland Spode Marks: Marked to the base of the cup with a red "6", and to the base of the saucer with a red '1' or 'I' Measurements: Cup: Width: ca. 4 7/8 in. Depth: ca. 4 in.
