About the Item

The fruit bowl comes from the German manufacturer "Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst" and is made of white porcelain. Four cornucopias extend from the actual bowl and meet in the middle, similar to a handle. The handles are also supported by a column in the middle. The bowl was decorated with porcelain fruits, which even form a bouquet at the top of the "handle". The bottom plate of the bowl measures 40 cm in diameter, while the height is about 35 cm. On the underside of the bowl you can see the burned-in proof of manufacture of the Schwarzburger Werkstätten including the fox logo. Underneath it, the model number U 2125 can also be seen. The top of the bowl represents a leaf stem which probably broke off and was glued on again or was already damaged during the fire. This spot is only very small and difficult to recognize. Furthermore, the bowl is in good condition. The Unterweißbacher Werkstätten für Porzellankunst were founded in 1882 by Hermann Jost in Unterweißbach (Thuringia). In 1909 Max Adolf Pfeiffer founded the art department Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst there. In 1913 Max Adolf Pfeiffer took over the management of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, while the company in Unterweißbach continued to exist until its bankruptcy, circa 1930. In 1940 Heinz Schaubach acquired the bankrupt Unterweißbacher Werkstätten, founded the Heinz Schaubach Unterweißbach company and managed this company together with Schaubachkunst in Lichte (Wallendorf) until it was expropriated by the GDR in 1953. Many exhibits of the Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst are today (partly limited) remoulded.
