About the Item

A fine, antique 18th century English porcelain partial tea or coffee service. By Worcester. Bearing the blue underglaze 'fretwork' or square factory mark. Consisting of a coffee/chocolate pot, a cream or milk pitcher, a handleless tea cup and saucer, and a coffee cann. Each piece is decorated with stylized pink coral or seaweed branches accented by a repeating yellow half-circle geometric pattern. The cream pitcher has embossed floral details around its base. Simply a wonderful, early Worcester coffee set! Date: 18th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition with no repairs. Condition Details: The coffee pot's lid is missing its finial, and the coffee pot's rim has a hairline crack. The cream pitcher has a firing flaw to its foot rim. There is a small chip to the saucer and some staining to its underside. There is rubbing to the gilding throughout all pieces. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Coffee pot, saucer, and handleless tea cup are each marked to the base with a Worcester fretwork square/seal mark typical of the 1755-1775 era. The inside of the coffee pot lid reads "Square Marked Worcester", and the tea cup and cream pitcher bear a less legible similar inscription. The saucer bears only the blue square mark and the handled coffee cup is entirely unmarked. Measurements: Coffee Pot: Height: ca. 7 1/2 in. Width: ca. 7 1/2 in. Depth: ca. 4 3/8 in.
