About the Item

C.1940's - 1950's Théodore Haviland "Milford" "gold encrusted hearts" 21pc porcelain dinnerware set. This beautiful dinnerware set comes with 21 individual pieces: 1 oblong/oval shaped serving platter dish with indent to one side for collection of juices from meats or can be used to separate dips/sauces. 6 larger dinner plates. 2 bread & butter plates. 4 saucer plates with 4 footed demitasse (half-cup) coffee / tea cups. 3 soup style bowls. 1 smaller sized fruit / dessert (sauce) bowl. All pieces are stamped at bottom with "Theodore Haviland New York, Made in America". A number of pieces also contain the word "Milford"; which is the name for this specific design and pattern. Each piece is trimmed with the "gold encrusted heart" pattern and a thinner gold circular accent towards the center interior of each piece. The outermost interior portions are a soft cream color, while the center interior leans white in color. Condition: Overall great condition for the age. There are some scattered minor spots, wear and scratches to edges of gold trim and porcelain body. Some chips/wear to the base of select pieces. Please refer to last photo collage (#14) for close-up views of the stated imperfections. In 1840, David Haviland, who had a china shop in New York City, made his first trip to France to establish an alliance with a manufacturer who could create pieces of porcelain for the American trade. After the Civil War, David tasked his son, Théodore Haviland, to handle distribution and marketing. Théodore left the company to start his own in 1893. Because of the approaching hostilities in Europe, Théodore moved his company to the United States in 1936, where it operated until 1957. Measurements: (Approximate measurements included below. Mid-Century Modern Sculptural Driftwood Glass Planter Insert Coffee Center Table
Located in Thiensville, WI
Truly unique and one-of-a-kind driftwood coffee center table with planter inserts. Nature surely delivers some beautiful artwork, such as this sculpted wood base. The shape mimics that of two separate tree trunks with their entangled root bases. The strong base is realized with a 3/8 inch oval shaped glass top, customized with planter inserts which are fixed into each of the tree trunk stems. The planter inserts have metal spikes at the bottom to allow for secured placement of faux plants. Spike plates can be removed. You have the option to add a small pot or vase within both planter openings, or plant into the customized metal pots directly. Glass can be removed by lifting upward, in which metal pots are lifted and removed as well. Metal pots are what keep the glass secure to the driftwood base. We showcased 2 separate plant ideas for reference only; plants are not included in the purchase. The movement and fusion of this driftwood adds a very natural and organic feel to any design. Coupled with the ability to customize your own style of plants with the inserts makes this table an adaptable show piece. A rectangle center table...
