About the Item

Chinese export porcelain plate, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795). Polychrome decoration with flowers and fruit. The design features delicate floral motifs, hand-painted in soft shades of pink, green, yellow and orange, reminiscent of the "Famille Rose" style, which was very popular in the export of Chinese porcelain to the West, particularly during the Qing dynasties (Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong). The edge of the plate has a wavy shape and a golden border, which was also a common feature to please the European taste of the time. The flowers and fruits scattered around the plate, both on the edge and in the center, follow an asymmetrical and naturalistic composition, which combines the oriental style with the western demand for romantic and delicate decorative elements. This type of porcelain was often part of complete table services, which included plates, bowls, cups and platters, often ordered by European traders directly from China during the period of the East India Company's maritime trade. Very expensive to use.
