About the Item

Cut-out tray, in Chinese porcelain for export. Blue and white decoration, with floral and insect motifs. Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795). This blue decoration on a white background is typical of Chinese porcelain from this period. The use of natural motifs, such as lush flowers, possibly peonies, and the tree with hanging branches, refers to Chinese symbolism, where peonies represent wealth and honor. The presence of the dragonfly or winged insect adds dynamism to the composition, being common in Chinese iconography to symbolize lightness and transformation. The frame of the platter features intricate geometric and floral patterns, which is also characteristic of the Qianlong period, when the pieces were richly ornamented. The wavy shape of the edge and the meticulous details reinforce the high standard of manufacture, possibly originating from the famous workshops of Jingdezhen, known as the birthplace of Chinese porcelain. Signs of aging and wear are indicative of its age and can add historical value to the piece, and this dish may have not only artistic value, but also significant historical and collectible value, being a testament to the excellence of 18th century Chinese porcelain. Bad condition, broken and glued, restorations, chips and missing enamel.
