Dessert Set Coalport Porcelain Dishes Hand Painted 32 Pieces England Circa 1810
About the Item
This hand painted porcelain dessert service features the exquisite Blue Chrysanthemum pattern, combining deep blue with the allure of gold.
It's a fabulous combination!
The golden chrysanthemum leaves are richly gilded, creating a beautiful contrast against the deep blue background.
The 32-piece service consists of 21 dessert plates and all the serving shapes: a centerpiece and pairs of square-shaped dishes, shell-shaped dishes, oval-shaped dishes, and a fabulous pair of sauce tureens with their underplates.
Made by Coalport in England circa 1810, this Regency Period pattern was inspired by similar Chinese designs of the 18th century.
In Chinese lore, chrysanthemums represent a long and happy life because they bloom at the end of summer.
So, in addition to their beauty, these dishes symbolize happiness and overall well-being.

Background of Early Coalport Porcelain:
In Shropshire, England, Coalport was already a center of porcelain and pottery production in 1795 when John Rose founded the Coalport Porcelain factory. Opened in 1792, the Coalport Canal, which joins the River Severn at Coalport, had increased the site's attractiveness. From 1800 until a merger in 1814, two Coalport factories were operating, one on each side of the canal. Both factories made mostly tablewares with elaborate hand-painted overglaze decoration.

Coalport Coffee Can Porcelain Hand Painted and Gilded Pattern, circa 1810
By Coalport Porcelain
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a good quality coffee can that we attribute to the coalport porcelain works, Shropshire, England, made during the John Rose period of the George 111rd years, circa 1805-1810.
The coffee can is nominally parallel, tapering slightly to the base, with a simple loop handle and pointed attachments. It has a shallow foot recess with obtuse corner and is unmarked to the base.
The pattern is beautifully hand painted in gold gilt over a burnt orange ground, upper border pattern, with further gilt decoration to the outer handle and gilding around the upper and lower rims.
We date this piece to the late George third...
