About the Item

This is a fine porcelain coffee can & saucer duo made by Miles Mason, of Lane Delph, Stoke on Trent, England, circa 1805. It has a plain loop handle with the characteristic upper spur which is a known Miles Mason handle shape. Miles Mason was the founder of the MASON's dynasty, his son Charles James Mason patenting Mason's Ironstone in 1813. Prior to that Miles Mason, started production, in the late 18th century, of some fine porcelain, of which this piece is one. This Coffee Can & saucer are finely decorated with a very attractive all gilded pattern No. C13. with gilt outer handle and rims. A similar coffee can in the same pattern is illustrated on page 130 in the book "Miles Mason Patterns & Shapes", published by the Mason's Collectors Club. There are no markings to the base but this Coffee Can is definitely made by Miles Mason and has this recorded pattern, Circa 1805.
