Six elegant Limoges white porcelain flat plates; have a round shape with the rim expertly shaped and contoured in a personal, refined, and sophisticated manner; the beautiful white porcelain has been embellished in a refined manner with fine and elaborate handmade pure gold floral decorations arranged with extreme aesthetic taste. The trays were made between 1902 and 1910 in Limoges, France, by the firm Haviland & C.ie. Contrary to popular belief, Limoges does not indicate a factory, but a production area comprising several manufacturers all located in central France. Its fortunes began with the discovery of kaolin deposits near the town, purchased by King Louis XVI, who granted the privilege of manufacturing to the first factory in 1711. During the nineteenth century, the number of factories grew, and it was in 1842 that David Haviland, founding his factory, made Limoges, the porcelain capital of the world, a cradle of art without limits. David began to write the history of the Haviland family, a name synonymous with the art of French luxury that has endured to the present day. David Haviland was a skilled American merchant who set up an import company for ceramics and porcelain in 1838 in New York, in 1842 he decided to settle in Limoges, where thanks to him porcelain experienced unprecedented flowering. David Haviland became world-famous for his innovative eye and creative genius, so much so that in 1864 he turned out to be France's most important porcelain manufacturer. David Haviland was always eager to push the limits of know-how. He perfected decorative techniques and equipped his manufacturer with revolutionary machines. The world's greatest royal families and heads of state succumbed to the exceptional charm and prestige of this porcelain. These include the wife of Napoleon III, Empress Eugenie, President Jacques Chirac, Prince Rainier of Monaco, as well as Presidents Roosevelt and Lincoln, to name a few. Maison Haviland has been listed as a French brand of enormous excellence for over 175 years, sublimating the finest restaurants in the world's most important palaces, such as the Ritz and Shangri-La Hotel in Paris, Le Dorchester in London, and even the Parisian Hotel Crillon. The artisans at Haviland have managed to preserve, pass on, and keep alive their craft by combining tradition and modernity. At Haviland, it is the daily passion that builds the success of the Maison, with which they continue to write their legend. Haviland remains one of the few porcelain manufacturers that ensures that 100 % of its production, is entirely produced in Limoges; from manufacturer to creation. Every single decoration is still produced by hand with gold and perfect precision. More than 5000 different decorations have been created by the manufactory, since its founding, always guaranteeing perfect and prestigious workmanship. Size diameter cm.25, height cm.3. Meissen Porcelain Rare Rose Broth Cups Service and Embossed Decorations 12 Cups
By Meissen Porcelain
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Rare porcelain soup service by Meissen in Biedermeier style; the set consists of 12 cups with two handles and saucer; the various pieces are made of fine white hard porcelain hand-painted with the decoration "Pink Roses" enriched on all items with sumptuous decorations in relief not painted. Unlike the simple and quite common "Pink Roses", this model is very rare, prestigious, and sought after, therefore even more expensive; in fact, the objects with this relief decoration, much more particular and detailed than others, were fired three times, while those with only the "Pink Roses" decoration only twice. Moreover, the execution of this ornamental motif with delicate and graceful flowers was entrusted only to the most experienced and skilled painters, those in possession of the prestigious diploma obtained at the "School of Drawing of Meissen" established since 1764. The edges of the cups and saucers are scalloped and finished in pure gold as are the handles. All pieces bear the original Meissen trademark (two crossed swords) and from the enclosed list it can be stated with certainty that our service was produced between 1934 and 1944; moreover, on the objects the model is handwritten (61/106), this wording makes the artifacts even more precious and appreciated as they preserve all the characteristics of the author's calligraphy. Meissen porcelain was created in the castle of Albrechtsburg, in Meissen, a small town in Saxony near Dresden, in 1710, at the behest of Augustus the Strong (1670-1733), Prince-Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, who wanted to start production after the studies and experiments of his alchemist Bottger. Bottger discovered the formula for porcelain, in fact at that time, only the Chinese and Japanese had the recipe to create this wonderful material; Meissen was, therefore, the first porcelain produced in Europe! Bottger never revealed his formula to anyone, only a certain stage was known to the workers; we do not know, even today, in what proportions the different components are mixed; this is the great secret that allowed the famous brand to be considered the best in the world, Meissen porcelain is given the nickname of "white gold"! Through the years, Meissen has perfected its hard-paste products with high-temperature firing during its glazing. Meissen's porcelain patterns have been copied by many other manufacturers around the world such as Royal Copenhagen, Dresden, Herend, and many others, but Meissen's porcelain glaze maintains its quality over time and is superior to all (plates will not scratch with prolonged use of cutlery!). This is why even old Meissen...

Haviland Limoges Hand Painted Art Deco Porcelain Plates Water Lilies
By Haviland & Co.
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Set of 4 unique, antique plates was made by Haviland & Cie in Limoges, France. The plates were hand painted by a professional artist in a decorating studio with Art Deco motif of five water lilies on pale blue background. Calm blue and green colors are accentuated by bright yellow centers of the flowers and the gold rims.
The advent of Arts and Craft Movement created the notion that the aesthetic quality of everyday utilitarian objects could be improved by merit of craftsmanship, and many painters and artists felt inspired to merge their activities into decorative arts, such as ceramics, decor objects, or dinnerware. Large number of wholesale and retail firms, such as Pickard, Stouffer, or Brauer studios, and many high-end department stores that carried factory decorated Limoges's porcelain, had their own china decorating departments and produced high quality hand painted porcelain. Undecorated Haviland china...
