We invite you here to look at a splendid as well as rare Meissen coffee set: White porcelain, decorated with stylized tendrils and leaves = cobalt blue shaded / underglazed. DECOR SO-SAID "BLUE PANICLE" (= "BLAUE RISPE" IN GERMAN) - CREATED circa 1903-1904. Design and decoration created by: RICHARD RIEMERSCHMID (1868-1957) Richard Riemerschmid was a German architect, painter, designer and city planner from Munich. He was a major figure in Jugendstil, the German form of Art Nouveau, and a founder of architecture in the style. A founder member of both the Vereinigte Werkstätte für Kunst im Handwerk (United Workshops for Art in Handcrafts) and the Deutscher Werkbund and the director of art and design institutions in Munich and Cologne, he prized craftsmanship but also pioneered machine production of artistically designed objects. Riemerschmid was a co-founder of the Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst im Handwerk (United Workshops for Art in Handcrafts) and the Deutscher Werkbund (1907), which he headed from 1920-1926. From 1913-1924, he was director of the Munich Kunstgewerbeschule, and from 1926-1931 was a professor and the director of the Kölner Werkschulen (an art and design college in Cologne). - Riemerschmid played an important role in the 1922 German Handcrafts Exhibition in Munich. He published books on art education, too. - Riemerschmid paved the way for the modern artistic handcrafts movement. Influenced by the English Arts and Crafts movement, he created furniture, carpets, fabric and wallpaper designs and glass and porcelain pieces. Meissen coffee set for six persons: Coffee pot / creamer / six coffee cups with saucers There is at reverse side of coffee set MEISSEN BLUE SWORD MARK (underglazed) of very early 20th century (Meissen Swords with Pommels on Hilts which were used until 1924) existing. Painter's numbers as well as former's numbers visible. Size: height of coffee pot: 20.5 cm / 8.07 inches height of creamer: 11.0 cm / 4.33 inches height of coffeee cups: 6.5 cm / 2.55 inches diameter of coffee cups: 8.5 cm / 3.34 inches diameter of saucers: 13.8 cm / 5.43 inches Condition: Excellent / there aren't any chips, splinters, cracks etc. existing.
