Meissen Porcelain Large Plate or Charger Hand Painted and Gilded, circa 1870

About the Item

This is a beautiful large plate or charger with a finely hand painted pattern by the Meissen factory in fine white porcelain and dating to the 19th century, circa 1870. The plate has a wavy rim with a moulded spiral lattice border and sits on a low foot. It is beautifully hand decorated with a coloured life-like pattern of fruit with additional hand gilding to the inner central rim and the lattice border. The hand painting is particularly fine and well done as expected with this factory. The porcelain has a lovely soft white glaze. The piece has the under-glaze blue cross sword mark with a hand painted 1 and 42 at the sword handles in green. Overall a very beautifully hand painted fine quality piece of 19th century Meissen porcelain.
