About

Haoyu Wu i s an artist and sculptor based i n Guangxi, China. He i s currently the Dean and Associate Professor at the Public Art Department of the School of Sculptural Arts of Guangxi Arts University. He i s also a member of the IAC (International Academy of Ceramics, UNESCO). Haoyu mostly works with white porcelain. One of his most i conic collection is called The New Stoneware, in which each porcelain vases are sculptural from the shape of found stones. With the artist’s creativity and imagination, he constructed the extension of how the original stone would grow to be, and transform the entire shape into a functional vase. When interpreting oriental cultures with ceramics in the new context , there is a huge contrast between the texture of porcelain and shape of stone. While porcelain is mostly soft and fluid, the stone is hard and sturbbon. Haoyu’s works. perfectly incorporates the dynamics of both.
