$1,600per set

About
We are pleased to offer this pair of antique dishes with a single hand-painted flower at the centre. The flower is complemented by a buttery yellow border with ornate gold scrolling and delicate white floral wreaths. Each of the pair of flowers has been painted with great skill and artistry, making the plates a joy to look at. The plates have an added special touch with the name of each flower inscribed on the back, revealing that the artist sought botanical accuracy. Made by Coalport Porcelain circa 1825 the style can be identified as Rococo Revival.

Background
The Coalport Porcelain Factory was founded in 1795 in England by John Rose. Eventually Rose incorporated the Caughley, Nantgarw, and Swansea factories into the Coalport factory; thus bringing a wide range of expert craftsmen to contribute to the production of his porcelain. In 1820, Rose received the Gold Medal of the Society of Arts for his feldspar porcelain and an improved, lead-free glaze with which the enamel colors fused in firing.
