Pesce in argento dorato e smalti policromi, Vienna, XIX secolo

Descrizione Pesce con Nettuno retto da supporto e base ovale, superficie interamente dipinta a smalti policromi raffiguranti scene mitologiche. Punzonato con il monogramma "FR", contrassegno di tassa pagata (notstempel-frei, freistempel) nel 1809-10. Il 19 dicembre 1809 le autorità fecero entrare in vigore la tassa sulla consegna dell'argento agli appositi uffici di riscatto per combattere l'indebitamento dello Stato derivante dalla guerra contro la Francia. Solo se il metallo avesse potuto essere pagato dal proprietario in denaro convenzionale, non sarebbe stato soggetto a questa regolamentazione. In questi casi l'oggetto veniva contrassegnato con il monogramma "FR". Poiché solo pochi grandi orafi e argentieri potevano permettersi di pagare una tale tassa, un gran numero di oggetti d'argento di alto valore storico e artistico furono fusi. Il notstempel-frei, freistempel fu utilizzato nel 1809-10 per quegli oggetti che non dovevano essere consegnati agli uffici di riscatto. Punzonato con la lettera "A", piccola garanzia per gli oggetti in argento in uso a Vienna dal 1807 al 1866.
