Rosenthal Germany White Vase design Kuno Fischer Studio Line Argent

About the Item

Amazing vase designed by Cuno Fischer (1914-1973) for Rosenthal Studio Linie. It has a simple structure with an elegant silhouette that widens slightly towards the top; this shape is associated with the industrial design of the post-war period in Europe. Entirely in white, it features a representation of a kind of harlequin, accompanied by a rooster, riding a horse. These figures are highly stylized, made through a delicate and highly detailed linear drawing, colored with complex decorative patterns. This monochromatic design accentuates the contrast and allows the graphic details to be the central focus. In addition, influences of the Avant-garde (harlequin) and Surrealism are shown. Studio Linie was an innovative initiative launched by Rosenthal in the 1950s to bring contemporary and artistic design to the public in the context of functional and decorative objects. This approach reflects the integration of modern art with industrial production. Cuno Fischer, on the other hand, was a prominent artist known for fusing graphic and abstract styles with clean, modern forms. His designs stand out for a unique focus on illustration and minimalist aesthetics. Rosenthal is a German company, from the region of Selb, Bavaria. It was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal. Originally, it began as a decorative porcelain workshop, but quickly evolved into one of the most prestigious porcelain brands in the world. The company is known for its innovative approach and its collaboration with renowned artists and designers, such as Walter Gropius, Salvador Dalí, and Cuno Fischer, among others. Rosenthal not only produces high-quality porcelain, but has also stood out for its ability to combine tradition and modernity, especially through its Studio Linie line, which revolutionized contemporary design.
