18th-Century Green Glaze Oak Leaf Pottery Baskets & Stands

About the Item

British green glaze oak leaf pottery baskets & stands, Attributed to attributed to probably West Pans, Scotland, probably William Littler, Circa 1770 The oval greenware baskets and stands have an oak leaf design. The baskets are openwork with stylized overlapping oak leaf designs and with smaller oak leaves running alone the upper edge of the baskets. while the stands have overlapping oak leaves. The handles of a press molded branch design rising from the side edges Basket & Stand: 5 1/4 inches high x 10 1/4 inches wide x 8 1/4 inches deep (13.97 high x 26.04cm x 21.59cm); Basket: 4 1/2 inches high x 10 1/4 inches wide; Stand: 10 1/4 inches x 8 1/4 inches deep x 1 inch. One stand with two short hairlines invisibly repaired. Reference: English Pottery: Stoneware and Earthenware 1650-1800, Leslie Grigsby, Page 238, #128, for a very similar basket with the same form (different color) attributed to probably West Pans, Scotland, probably William Littler.
