Hand-crafted black clay mezcal jar from San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca., 1950´s. The necks on these jugs were designed so they could be carried with ropes tied around the rim, making it more accessible to travel by way of mules.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. The jug was cleaned and a bit of wax applied to bring back some of the brown to black luster. The overall color of the pot is a deep brown.
