About the Item

Turquoise matte glazed relief decorated "Jazz" plate by Einar Luterkort (1905-1981) for (Upsala) Ekeby, Sweden . Stamped, Ekeby, on the reverse. Circa 1930-40. Relief decorated stylized figures of two dancers and a drummer. The edge is unglazed red clay. Good overall condition with minor crazing to the glaze. Minor glaze pops and misses due to the heavy fired glaze on the surface; all produced during the manufacturing process. This is quite common with other examples of this form. No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The underside base's interior retains the tripod stand glaze misses when fired. The plate measures approximately 13" diameter x 1.5" high.
