English Leeds Fireclay Company Advertising Lion Paperweight, circa 1904

About the Item

An unusual antique art pottery advertising paperweight mounted with a seated lion made in Leeds at The Leeds Fireclay Company (Burmantofts) dating from circa 1904. The paperweight has a moulded rectangular base with raised centre with various advertising words for the company around the base and with a seated lion to the centre. The weight is glazed in off white glazes with a natural craquelure finish and is impressed The Leeds Fireclay Co Ltd to the base. Offered in good condition with the usual firing marks.
