Jacques BREUGNOT Mid-century Vase, 1940s

About the Item

An exceptional Art Deco Stoneware vase by Jacques Breugnot, created in the 1940s in his studio in Bonny-sur-Loire, France. This striking vase measures 29.5 cm high and 21 cm in diameter. The vase is marked under the base with the signature "JBreugnot 355" (see photo), confirming its authenticity. Dimensions Height: 29.5 cm Diameter: 21 cm Jacques Breugnot came to prominence in the 1940s when he took over the family Brisdoux factory in Bonny-sur-Loire, Loiret. His works from this period are highly regarded for their use of metal-free enamels, particularly gold and platinum, which he applied with masterful technique. These glazes are notably free of metallic glazes, allowing for a more subtle yet sophisticated finish, giving his ceramics an unmatched depth and refinement. Breugnot’s style combines the bold, modernist elements of the Art Deco period with a uniquely organic touch, evident in the elegant curves and textured surfaces of this stoneware vase. His work remains highly prized by collectors and continues to be sought after for its exceptional craftsmanship and innovative use of materials. This vase is a superb example of mid-century French ceramics and would make a remarkable addition to any collection of Art Deco ceramics, French pottery, or modernist stoneware.
