Longwy Early French Majolica Glazed Floral Landscape Pin Dish
About the Item
A stylish French majolica pottery pin dish decorated with flowering shrubs in a rocky landscape dating from the 19th century. The thickly potted dish is of simple round form with a narrow round foot and raised rim. The dish is an early example and decorated with two flowering shrubs within a rocky landscape and hand painted in colored enamels against a turquoise ground. Thedish has the customary craquelure to the glaze and has a simple matted blackened edge. There is an indistinct impressed makers mark to the base along with a painted number 32.
Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.
