Nils Thorsson, unique beaker-vase for Royal Copenhagen, c. 1940's.

About the Item

Unique Nils Thorsson vase, for Royal Copenhagen, c. 1940's, glazed in "Sang de Beuf" glaze or oxblood glaze and signed in blue in the bottom with NT monogram together with the 3 blue waves of RC. Nils Thorsson was recognized for being the glaze-master of the stoneware section at R.C., inventing a wide range of glazed used by all the designers and artists in this field. His style was very much influenced by Asian pottery traditions which is also the case with this piece. The vase is in mint condition.

    Large Palshus table lamp made in chamotte clay stoneware with checkered pattern on the low part of the body in shades of brown. The lamp is signed by incising in the bottom and has model # DL26/1 and is in very good condition with no chips, marks or repairs. Per Linnemann (1912-1999) was the son of Danish sculptor Willie Wulff. Later he took the name of his stepfather Schmidt. Per entered the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen in 1931 and worked as a sculptor, when he was between 30 and 40 years old, specializing in portraits. In 1949 he opened Palhus Stenøj (sandstone) with his wife Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt (born Sprechler). They settled in a house to work and live there. This was located in Sengeløse outside of Copenhagen. Per created and his wife ran their business. The items were sold in the Den Permanente department store in Copenhagen.
