Staffordshire pottery Greyhound, Thomas Parr factory, c. 1850.

About the Item

A rare Staffordshire pottery figure of a Greyhound, Thomas Parr factory, c. 1850. Whilst initially looking similar to a standard Staffordshire figure of a Greyhound, this particular example, is exceptionally well modelled, and fully decorated in the round, with the hounds mouth slightly open, revealing his tongue. Set upon an oval mound base, moulded with a fern, and the grass carefully painted in the long brush strokes, typical of the Thomas Parr factory. Length – 24 cm, 9 1/2”. Height – 25 cm, 9 5/8”. Depth – 9.5 cm, 3 3/4”. Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
