Antique Composite Sterling Silver Sauceboats by William Hutton & Sons Ltd

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, composite pair of antique English sterling silver gravy boat made in the George II style; an addition to our dining silverware collection. These exceptional antique sterling silver gravy boats have an oval shaped, naturalistic form, in the classic George II style. The shaped body of each gravy boat is plain and unembellished with an applied gadroon decorated border to the shaped rim. The sauceboats are fitted with exceptional cast sterling silver opposing scroll handles featuring a leaf decorated scrolling thumbpiece. Each example of antique silverware is supported by an impressive cast spreading foot, reflecting the formation of a leaf. This composite pair of sterling silver gravy boats was crafted by William Hutton & Sons Ltd; one gravy boat bears the hallmarks for London, 1896 and the other pertains to Sheffield, 1908. Condition These antique sterling silver sauce boats are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The cast ornamentation is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each gravy boat are all very clear. The blade of the knife and the drop of the fork have an incurved shaped form.
