An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver cream jug made by John Hunt & Robert Roskell; an addition to our silver teaware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver cream jug has an oval shaped form onto a figural pedestal and an oval spreading foot.
The cast sterling silver body of the antique cream jug modelled in the form of an ammonidea fossil.
The underside of the lip is embellished with an impressive applied bearded mask design above the contemporary engraved initials 'JS'.
This fine example of Victorian silverware is fitted with an impressive antique style dolphin/mystical fish decorated handle ornamented with chased scale decoration.
The body surmounts an impressive and unusual cast four-legged evolutionary creature.
The oval base of the cream jug bears the retailers mark 'Hunt & Roskell' in addition to the registration number '3917'.
The interior of the jug retains the original gilding.
This exceptional cast cream jug was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmiths John Hunt & Robert Roskell.
Condition
This antique cream jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are all very clear.
