About the Item

From the Orchies Faïencerie in Saint-Armand-Les-Eaux, Northern France, a majolica glazed oval asparagus server, circa early 1900s. Beautiful glazing – a deeper cradle shaped well comprised of a bunch of purple tipped white asparagus against a turquoise blue surface. The wide rim resembles a woven basket with a scalloped edging, glazed in a soft brown. Interesting black glaze effects. Book Reference: pg. 96 , “Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine” by Maryse Bottero 14.5 in. L x 10.5 in. W x 2 in. H Very good condition. A glazed over divot to the outer rim, a kiln effect in the making.
