A stunning antique English silver plated cocktail or drinks tray made by the top-notch London silversmith "Goldsmiths' and Silversmiths' Company at 112 Regent Street, London; signed on the understand. This stylish tray stands on four attractive feet and is decorated with a beautiful engraved design. Just back from our silversmith's workshop where it has been professionally cleaned and polished, restoring it to it's former glory. Dating to c.1920, it remains in superb condition measuring 14" x 9 1/2" x 1/2". In 1880 William Gibson and John Lawrence Langman acquired premises at 112, Regent Street, London and founded The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company. The firm produced a wide range of items from solid silver tableware and cutlery, jewellery and watches to electroplaters, trophies and surgical instruments. In 1898 the expanded and well-known firm became a limited company and added "Ltd" to its name. The abundant advertising activity of The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd left numerous illustrations of their products. The company also became a distinguished dealer in diamonds and precious stones and a popular retailer of items by other silversmiths such as Harrison Brothers & Howson, William Comyns, Martin Hall & Co Ltd, W&G Sissons, among others. The company's artworks received acclaim at a number of international exhibitions from the 1880s through to the early 1900s. A fine and impressive, large antique Victorian English sterling silver sugar caster, an addition to our silver teaware collection. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver sugar caster has a baluster shaped form onto a circular stepped spreading domed foot. The lower portion of this sugar caster is embellished with embossed convex batwing decoration in a swirl design. This large, silver caster retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, embellished with impressive pierced scroll, floral and leaf designs below further embossed batwing decoration to the upper portion. The cover is surmounted by an impressive sterling silver flame style finial. This impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilt interior. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver vesta case; an addition to our theatrical related silverware collection This fine antique Edwardian English sterling silver vesta case has a plain rectangular rounded form. The anterior surface of the vesta case is embellished with the applied inscription 'Adelphi Theatre, 1906' to the cover and 'With Otho Stuart's Compliments' to the body. The posterior surface of the cover bears the applied inscription 'Souvenir of A Midsummer Night's Dream' The reverse of the case features an impressive embossed scene from a Midsummer Night's Dream Act IV scene I; this scene depicts the character Bottom with the ears of an ass being doted on by Titania. This fine sterling silver vesta case has a hinged cover which incorporates a plain thumbpiece to the anterior edge. There is an integrated serrated panel/match striker to the underside.
