Antique Sheffield England and Silver Plated Cruet Set with Cut Crystal Bottles

About the Item

an ancient condiment set, dating back to around the early 1900s, but probably even prior to this period. Consisting of a matched group of containers with a rack including containers for pepper, salt, and mustard and three stopped cruets for oil and vinegar and other. This antique ménage is not only functional but highly decorative. The cruets are all, albeit minimally, different from each other as they are handcrafted in beveled crystal. Each cruet has a decagonal base, which creates 10 sides in beveled transparent crystal while the caps are in faceted crystal or made of the E.P.N.S. metal alloy. as you can read from the stamp visible in the photo. The cruets are contained in a Sheffield basket chiseled with scrolls and arabesques and which features a balustrade decorated with fretwork. The wooden base has been cleaned of oil residues etc. and treated with a specific product by our restorer while the Sheffield and E.P.N.S parts were left in patina, but can obviously be cleaned with a silver polishing product. This Cruet Set is in good vintage condition, only one of the cruets has a scratch (visible in the photo) which was ground by a professional so that it was not sharp. Reach out for any additional questions.
