This parcel gilt silver plated electroform plaque by Elkington & Co illustrates 'A Pompeian Lady'. 'A Pompeian Lady' was a masterpiece made of silver and damascened steel by the French artist Leonard Morel-Ladeuil and later reproduced by Elkington & Co, using their renowned electrotype technique. The circular plaque portrays a Pompeian lady leaning back on a couch, circled by three maids. Surrounding the figures is draped foliage, a traditional ewer with flowers in and an animated statue. Greek shells circle the circumference of the plaque. The Plaque has been placed in a wooden frame. A remarkably similar example can be found in the Victoria & Albert Museam, London.
