1740s Georgian Sterling Silver Mote Spoon

About the Item

An exceptional antique Georgian English sterling silver mote spoon; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique George II sterling silver strainer/mote spoon has an oval rounded with a narrow stem style handle and pointed terminal. The bowl is ornamented with pierced stylized scrolling leaf decoration in addition to a central quadrilateral arrangement of quatrefoil designs. The posterior surface of the bowl is ornamented with a shell decorated heel and incorporates the contemporary engraved initials 'F I H'. Condition This antique mote spoon is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The British hallmarks, consisting of the maker's mark and lion passant, struck to the reverse surface of the handle are very clear considering the type of item.
