1830s English Sterling Silver Teapot

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique William IV English sterling silver teapot; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This impressive antique silver teapot, in sterling standard, has a circular rounded form. The upper portion of the body is embellished with embossed fluted decoration. The plain body of the teapot is ornamented with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a griffin's head couped holding in the beak a serpent. This antique William IV teapot is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover, ornamented with further fluted ornamentation to the upper plateau. The teapot retains the original, large sterling silver finial, accented with lobed ornamentation in a floral design. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive hallmarked sterling silver C shaped handle with a plain scrolling thumbpiece. The teapot is fitted with a fine and impressive plain swan necked spout. This 19th century silver teapot is supported by four bracket style feet, embellished with embossed and applied leaf designs. Condition This antique 19th century silver teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. The embossed and applied decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of the cover and surface of the handle are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Russian silver Torah pointer/yad; an addition to our Judaica silverware collection This exceptional antique 19th century Russian silver Torah pointer/yad has a knopped tapering cylindrical form. The bulbous knops are each plain and unembellished. The plain tapering handpiece is embellished with applied interlacing designs to the upper portion. The shaft of this silver Torah pointer has a stranded twist design, to an undulating circular collar style knop. This lower knop terminates with an impressive hand, with its index finger pointed. The hallmarks struck to the handpiece of this exceptional silver Torah pointer include: Silver quality/purity mark: 84 (84 zolotniks*) City Mark: Moscow, Russia Maker's mark: ФВ (untraced) Such original Russian examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate; due to their formation they do not stand the test of time. * 84 zolotniki is equivalent to 875/1000 or .875 standard silver NOTE: The Hebrew word yad (יד) translates to "hand" and is used while reading the Torah. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver bachelor teapot; an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver teapot has an inverted pear shaped form onto a circular spreading foot. The surface of the bachelor teapot is plain and unembellished. The upper rim of the body is ornamented with a band of cast and applied gadroon decoration all in a swirl design. This antique silver teapot is fitted with a hallmarked, domed flush hinged cover surmounted with an impressive and original, cast sterling silver flame style finial; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece. This exceptional example of antique teaware retains the original C scroll carved painted wood handle featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece and a cast silver leaf decorated design to the upper socket, This impressive example of antique silverware has a cast silver swan necked spout embellished with fluted decoration and applied leaf motif to the lip. The ornamentation to the underside of the spout incorporates a vacant oval cartouche below a shell motif. The cast circular spreading foot is encircled with further gadroon decoration to the rim. Note: This maker may have been recorded in the missing 1739-1758 Smallworkers' Register or the 1758-1773 Largeworkers' Register, determining this maker's mark to be classed as 'unidentified' in all documents.
