19th Century Victorian Solid Silver Wine Jug, Edward Barnard & Sons c.1870
About the Item
Antique 19th Century Victorian solid silver gilt wine jug, made in the Egyptian revival style, the centre featuring a a pair of snakes, flanked by wings, cartouche engraved with crowned initials. The top featuring an elongated spout with a hidden hinged lid, attached to the rounded body forming a large handle. Around the body of the jug the details are part gilt, likewise the lid and spout. A brilliant item for any house, perfect for serving wine or water.
Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), London, year 1870 (p), Makers mark E&B J&B into a quatrefoil (Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd).
CONDITION
In Great Condition - No damage. Some light wear in keeping with age. Please refer to photographs.
