Aesthetic Movement Sterling Silver Business/Calling Card Case In Original Box

About the Item

Lovely, Aesthetic Movement, sterling silver, bright cut, business/calling card case, Gorham Manufacturing Co., Providence, Rhode Island, Ca. 1870's. Holds a standard size business card. Measures 4 inches long at longest point) x almost 2 1/2 inches wide (at widest point) x 1/4 inch deep. Designed with bright cut flowers, branches, birds, leaves, etc.,so that when light hits the silver, it looks as if the case is inset with jewels. Background has a matte finish. Cartouche is engraved with an interlocking cypher monogram (see photo). Dark areas in photos are reflections. The case comes with its original, satin-lined, fitted box (which has some minor wear (commensurate with age and use - see photos) and having a working clasp. Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. The business/calling card case is in very good antique condition.
