Georgian Sterling Silver Strawberry Dishes

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver strawberry dishes; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. These exceptional antique George II English sterling silver strawberry dishes have a plain rounded circular shaped form. The embossed panelled bodies of these sterling silver dishes are each embellished with an incurved shaped rim; the interior surface of each dish is ornamented with an impressive contemporary engraved coat of arms. The underside of each dish bears the original item numbers 3 and 4*, in addition to the scratch weights of 13 troy ounces and 9 pennyweights (13.9 troy ounces). These pieces are a segment of a more extensive table service incorporating dishes, trays and platters; through time the service will have been divided. Condition These Georgian silver strawberry dishes are an exceptional gauge of silver for their type, exceptional quality and exceptional condition in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each dish are clear in keeping with age and location; the maker's mark to each dish is partially worn. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of antique silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive, large pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver entrée dishes made by Walker and Hall; an addition to dining silverware collection.
