1930s Sterling Silver Spirit Kettle

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver spirit kettle; an addition to our antique silver teaware collection This exceptional antique George V sterling silver spirit kettle has a circular rounded form. The lower portion of this silver spirit kettle is embellished with exceptional chased decorated stylised water leaf designs. The upper portion of the body is encompassed with an exceptional band of chased opposing scroll decoration accented with palmette motifs. The upper rim of the kettle is embellished with an applied egg decorated border. This antique silver spirit kettle is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover encircled with further chased water leaf decoration to the domed portion. The cover is surmounted with the original sterling silver topped, carved wood finial, securing to the interior with a wing nut. This fine example of antique teaware is fitted with an impressive incurved handle featuring the original carved wood handpiece to scrolling terminals ornamented with floral medallions. The kettle detaches from the original hallmarked sterling silver stand, supported by three impressive cast scrolling legs, each terminating with a lobed hoof style foot. The stand is further encompassed with an applied egg decorated border to the rim. The stand incorporates a plain rounded frame which retains the original hallmarked detachable spirit burner. The spirit kettle stand is fitted with the original chains and hallmarked security pegs. Condition This antique silver spirit kettle is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The chased decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the kettle, in addition to the part hallmarks to the spirit burner, stand, security pegs and interior of the kettle cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver spirit kettle; an addition to our antique silver teaware collection This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver spirit kettle has a melon shaped, incurved paneled form. Each segment of the paneled body is embellished with impressive alternating flat engraved designs incorporating quatrefoil motifs accented with bordered leaf ornamentation and a trellis pattern, all encompassed with a matte texture. The upper portion of the body is encircled with a flat engraved undulating border with applied moulded decoration to the scalloped rim. This antique silver kettle is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover surmounted with the exceptional and original hallmarked sterling silver gourd shaped finial, securing to the interior with a wing nut. This fine example of Victorian teaware is fitted with an impressive hallmarked sterling silver scrolling handle ornamented with impressive cast S-scroll, leaf decorated terminals accented with large scrolling leaf decorated sockets in junction with the body. This solid silver kettle has a plain paneled swan necked spout with an impressive scalloped shaped socket accented with a paralleling border. This exceptional kettle detaches from the original hallmarked cast sterling silver Stand, supported by four impressive cast scrolling legs accented with further applied leaf ornamentation. The upper portion of the stand is encircled with impressive cast scrolling leaf ornamentation with a central floral design. The stand incorporates a plain scrolling frame which retains the original spirit burner, reflecting the identical paneled form to the body and cover. The silver spirit kettle Stand is fitted with the original chains and security pegs.
