Antique Cut Glass and Sterling Silver Bon Bon Basket

About the Item

A fine antique George V English sterling silver and cut glass bon bon basket; an addition to our silverware collection This fine antique George V sterling silver and cut glass bon bon basket has a circular waisted shaped form to a swept foot. The sterling silver holder of the basket is embellished with pierced decorated motifs in addition to an applied leaf ornamented border to the shaped rim. This receiver is fitted with a removable cut glass dish ornamented with panels of geometric designs to the flared elongated rim. The lower portion of the glass dish is embellished with a simplified leaf motif to each panel. This antique glass basket has a plain faceted shaped sterling silver handle. The underside of the weighted base is fitted with green baize. Condition: This antique bon bon basket is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition. The cut glass dish is in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the foot of the holder are all clear. Dimensions: Height: 19cm/7.5" Width across handle: 13.2cm/5.2" Length of dish: 13.7cm/5.3". Weight: An accurate weight of silver cannot be provided as this basket has a weighted base. The lower bulbous portion of body is encircled with chased fluted ornamentation.
