Antique Victorian Solid Silver Bowl/Basket in Neoclassical Style - 1899
About the Item
We are delighted to offer this fine antique Victorian silver bowl/basket with the marks for William Hutton & Sons, London, 1899.
The basket is made from a good gauge of silver and has a good quality feel in hand despite its pierced overall design. Wonderfully embellished in neoclassical style, this elegant bowl features a pedestal base with finely pierced walls and swags of laurel leaves drooping from the central cartouche.
The top edge is curved in an elegant manner, matching the overall neoclassical style with the border presenting a dotted bead pattern with four points featuring a wonderful acanthus leaf and anthemion motifs. Owing to its flared design, the basket is quite accommodating and allows for a variety of uses even in the modern day.
Whether be it to hold some sweets or as a bread basket, we believe that such fine antique silverware can be a surprisingly practical and elegant manner to immediately elevate the splendour of an interior.
Amongst other silverware or fine antiques or perhaps as a contrasting piece of interior decor in a contemporary setting, why not get creative and explore some modern uses for this basket? English hallmarks are present on the base of the bowl.

- Antique Victorian Solid Silver Gilt Naturalistic Leaf Spoon Pair, 1842By Sebastian Crespel IILocated in London, GBWe are delighted to offer this fine and exquisite pair of early Victorian solid silver tea spoons made in London 1842 with the maker's mark of Sebastian Crespell. The pair features a highly ornate and desirable 'naturalistic' design with the entirety of the spoon-shaped as a leaf and branch. Intricate engravings on the leaf bowls and the realistic form of the stem/branch indicate a high level of craftsmanship and artistry by the silversmith. Upon close inspection, the asymmetric and naturally flowing design is further apparent and is a delightful touch. Not only are these spoons practical for a wide variety of uses from tea to desserts, but are a modest yet discerning addition to any collection or interior decor for a sophisticated and nature-inspired look. The pair is gilded with a yellowish/lemon hue that has been worn and patinated in a very attractive colour/tone. A full set of English hallmarks are present on the reverse side of the bowl.
