Antique Vienna Baroque Silver Sugar Box, by Zacharias Fayll, 1705/1715
About the Item
Baroque silver box with loose plug-in lid in a bulbous oval shape, flush stand without feet, in the lower area of the container and on the lid chased boss decoration with ornamentation, in between clamshells, smooth indentation at the openings, top of the lid centred medallion with chased clamshell and volute decoration.
Branded by the Wheel mark, Austrian official hallmark for Vienna from 1691 to 1737: 13 Lot silver, dated 1705 or 1715
'ZF' in a heart - Master's sign ZACHARIAS FAYLL (FRILL), active as a master in Vienna 1695-1724
