Hare's head Special mark for French works exported. Masterpiece by Canaux, impossible to find, extremely rare pieces in sterling silver, yellow gold and pink gold. An exceptional set from the point of view of its design but also for the multicolored which is itself quite rare as well as the contrast between the raised details and the background. The upper parts are engraved with flowers and foliage pattern. Uncommon, each bowl has a different decor. The stems and handles have ribbons with foliage decoration, the pierced spatulas are adorned with cherub. Service with figurative handles are unusual. This taste for fantasy is typical of many of the pieces produced by the Maison Canaux at the end of the century. Certainly one of the most exceptional work of French silversmith of 19th century. Both design and quality of workmanship are uncommon and its manufacture would have necessitated many more hours work than usual. Fabulous model represented in the book "French Silver Cutlery of the 19th century", unique book benchmark for French silversmithing, this one lists the most rare and fabulous French models of the 19th century.
