About the Item

Silver German nicest pair of flower bowls / centerpieces with original elegant glass liners. Transition period / Historicism - Art Nouveau (made circa 1880-1900). Silver 800 branded by German Crescent with Crown. Manufactory: Hallmarked by FRIEDLAENDER BROTHERS (Germany / Berlin): GEBR.FRIEDLÄNDER' Label existing: 'Gebr.Friedländer / Hofjuweliere Seiner Majestät des Kaisers und Königs / Berlin, Unter den Linden' (= 'Friedlaender Brothers / Jewelers of his Majesty the Emperor and King / Berlin, Unter den Linden'). Master's mark H: It is Emil Harnisch (1862–1935 / Berlin), silversmith and employee of the firm Friedlander Brothers. Referring firm was founded in year 1829 in Berlin when a shop for selling precious items made of silver and gold was established. The silver manufactory was very successful in second half of 19th century having had their company domicile at the address 'Unter den Linden 28 in Berlin' / the company has even become Jeweler of German Imperial Court in Berlin. - The Friedlander firm was sold in year 1938 to Kurt Hermann - a very close associate of Hermann Goering who had been Hitler's Reich Marshal - since the Friedlander family had Jewish confession: For this reason they had to move to London in order to escape targeted killing. Measures: Total width: 34.0 cm 13.38 inches. Total depth: 20.0 cm 7.87 inches. Total height: 13.0 cm 5.11 inches (glass liner included). Specifications: Outstanding silver flower bowls (jardinières) with gorgeous original glass liners with colorless glass: The glass liners have stunningly cut upper edge, decorated with small stars enclosed by rhomb frames / cut large star pattern at bottom existing, too. - Referring to style, this flower bowl was made during Transition period from Historicism to Art Nouveau. The silver bowls' outer wall is decorated with floral ornaments, presenting flower's blossoms as well as garlands of laurel wreaths which cover the handles, too. The silver bowls' upper edge is decorated with drop-shaped reticulated patterns. The silver bowls are gilt inside. Silver weight: 2000 grams / 70.4 oz. Condition: Excellent (there aren't any damages / any imperfections existing).
