Hallmarked in Birmingham between 1873 and 1885 by Elkington & Co., this incredible, Victorian, Antique Sterling Silver Suite of Dessert Stands, is in the Egyptian Revival style, and comprises a large centrepiece with 3 small glass side dishes, and a larger central glass dish, a pair of medium size dessert stands with glass dishes and gilt figures of sphinxes to the bases, and a smaller pair of dessert stands with glass dishes.
The silver of the suite weighs an impressive 347 troy ounces.
The central dessert stand measures 28"(71cm) tall, by 18"(46cm) in diameter.
The 2 medium dessert stands measures 17.25"(44cm) tall, by 9.25"(23.5cm) in diameter.

A 5 dish epergne by The Alexander Clark Company London. Formed with 5 removable pierced dishes, the circular foot raised on four feet, the frame and branches decorated throughout with elaborate pierced work and with scrolling branches.
The business was established in 1891 by Clift Alexander Mawer Clark at 138 Fenchurch Street, London. Manufacturing premises were opened in 1894 at 29 Market Place, Oxford Street.
In 1900 the firm was active at Welbeck Works, Randall Street, Sheffield, transferring its activity to James Street Works, St. Paul's, Birmingham, in 1918.
The firm was active also at 29 Market Place, London (1894-1910), 188 Oxford Street, London (1900-1915), 125-126 Fernchurch Street, London (1909-1918), 38-40 Mitre Street, Aldgate, London (1921), 17 Sycamore Street, Sheffield (1921) and 38 Leadenhall Street, London (1941).
The partners were C.A.M. Clark, Louis Vernon Clark, Robert Fead Mosley and Robert Frederick Mosley (of R.F. Mosley & Co Ltd).

Crafted in parcel-gilt and electroplated silver, this stunning epergnes suite was made by the leading English firm Elkington & Co. in late Victorian London. The pieces are crafted in a magnificent Egyptian Revival style, most evident from the stunning sphinx mounts on the main pieces. The suite is comprised of a pair of large oval shaped epergnes that consist of leaf mounts, pierced and mounted with pairs of sphinxes that support cut-glass bowls.
The suite also comprises a set of four taller circular epergnes, that have similar sphinx mounts in trios, and which stand upon triangular bases, with beaded borders, chains, and paw feet, supporting a set of four bowls...
