About the Item

An impressive silver beer jug with high-relief, chased scenes of a stag hunt among scrolling foliage and floral designs. This substantial piece, made by a fine silversmith, has a cast mask spout and hinged lid featuring a charming cherub finial and a capacity of 2.5 litres. This fine jug was presented as a horse racing prize the cartouche is beautifully hand engraved with the inscription AIRDRIE RACES Members' Cup Presented by James Baird Esq MP Won by SWALEDALE 1851.
