Neoclassical Style Dutch Continental Silver (.800) Chocolate Pot With Hinged Lid

About the Item

Neoclassical-Style, Continental Silver (.800), paw-footed chocolate pot with wood handle and hinged lid, Dutch, year-hallmarked for 1886, Ate deGroot Boersma Sneek - maker. Beautiful, detailed repousse design (with cherubs, leaves, etc.) and having the face of a horned Zeus as part of the spout. Finial is a lion holding a shield (unengraved). Measures 7 3/4 inches high at highest point x 3 1/4 inches diameter at widest point x 7 inches from outer edge of chocolate pot to outer end of wooden handle. Opening is 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Weighs 9.725 troy ounces. Dark areas on silver in photos are reflections. In excellent antique condition.
