Very rare Heath and Middleton (Hukin and Heath) glass and silver mechanical condiment jar, Birmingham, 1906. Full hallmarks to handle, mount and cover and design No 18226 and Patent No 5518. Hinged cover fitted with unique mechanical handle which raises lid when handle lowered, thereby causes the lid to open or close. The glass of thick clear tapered quadrilateral form, beveled edges and cut star base. Height to top of handle: 5.50 inches. Base: 3.50 x 2.50 inches. Very Christopher Dresser style influence.
