Boxed Victorian English Sterling Silver Wine Goblet

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection This exceptional, fine and impressive Victorian antique goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a swept cylindrical pedestal, to a circular spreading foot. The body of this impressive silver goblet is encircled with exceptional parcel gilt bright cut engraved ornamentation, accented with foliate and trefoil motifs extending downwards from the upper portion of the goblet. The border of this antique English silver goblet is embellished with applied bead decoration, which spans the goblet's circumference. The hallmarked surface of the exceptional goblet is further embellished with the original bright cut engraved monogram initials 'EH'. The swept pedestal features a circular parcel gilt knop to the centre encircled with applied bead decoration. The circular spreading foot is encircled with an applied bead decorated border to the rim and features further impressive parcel gilding and bright cut engraved decoration depicting quatrefoil motifs surrounding its surface. The foot of the goblet also features the engraved retailer's mark 'Stephen Smith & Son, 35 King Street Covent Garden W.C' This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilt interior. The exceptional goblet is fitted to a fine and impressive octagonal leatherette push fit presentation box with a velvet and satin lined interior, securing with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears two copies of the retailer's mark 'Stephen Smith & Son, 35 King Street Covent Garden'. Condition This antique English silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition; the piece is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp and the applied bead decoration is sharp; it can be determined this piece has seen little to no use. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Victorian silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver wine goblet; an addition to our antique wine and drinks related silverware collection This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver wine goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this antique silver goblet is embellished with impressive embossed and chased scrolling leaf decoration accented with bead motifs, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates plain lobed arch designs, composing five vacant cartouches. The upper rim of the drinking vessel is encircled with an applied moulded border. The circular knop to the plain stem is encompassed with applied bead decoration. The swept foot is embellished with further embossed and chased decoration reflecting that of the body and is encircled with an applied band of bead decoration to the rim. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped pedestal and circular spreading foot, in the classic pineapple style. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is composed of chased and embossed lozenge shaped convex panels, replicating the fruitlets/spikes of a pineapple, each ornamented with a quatrefoil-floral design. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive quatrefoil shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'HM'. The upper rim is encompassed with an applied band of bead decoration. The waisted pedestal features a circular knop to the centre encircled with further floral motifs. The circular spreading foot is encompassed with a continuation of segmented lozenge panels, reflecting that of the body. This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion.
