About the Item

A Beautiful Silver Mezuzah Case made by William B. Meyers in Newark, New Jersey Circa 1950. William B. Meyers is a renowned American silversmith and artist of the 20th Century. Meyer's Pieces tell a certain story or sermon rather, the passion and soul he put into his objects, especially religious objects as in this Mezuzah case. The Layout of this Mezuzah Case is truly spectacular; it is made in the design of an open Torah scroll. The body of the scrolls twist upward toward the Atzei Chaim almost pillar-like, flanking the 'open scroll' at the center. The central open scroll is very intriguing as it resembles an ark with a pierced doorway that swings upward instead of swinging outward or rolling to the sides. The doors are adorned with beautiful foliate scrolling and bordered with grape cluster scrolling. Pierced at the center is a single willow tree branch with leaves and the word "Shalom" infused into the branch and its leaves. The Mezuzah case is backed by an applied pierced flowing backplate which beautifies the borders of the Mezuzah case. Marked at the inside of the upward-swinging cover.
